Ride for Bikes is a 501(c)(3) public charity that gives out bikes at Christmas and supplies scholarships to students that have overcome a challenge in their life. These programs require a lot of capital that is donated by individuals, members of the Artesia Community and various companies around the area.
Annually Ride for Bikes needs to raise between $20,000 to 30,000 for the Christmas Bike Program and another $16,000 for the scholarship program. This funding comes entirely from individual donors, our Wet n Wild event, the local communities and companies.
What many people don’t realize is that we must order the Christmas bikes in October, long before we have the money. And we commit to assembling and delivering hundreds of bikes praying that we will have enough volunteers to do so on that Saturday morning. While it is nerve wracking in November waiting to see what happens we have always been blessed and have succeeded. And that is only because of generous people like you who donate their money and time to make children happy.
If you can help us help children then please donate. Ride for Bikes depends on the generosity of people to continue providing bikes for children. Your donation now will help us continue to make Christmas wishes come true and to provide the children of Artesia a healthy activity. Please visit our website www.Rideforbikes.com to make a contribution online, or mail your check payable to Greater Artesia Foundation with “Ride for Bikes” in the memo to P.O. Box 1344, Artesia, NM 88211-1344.
All of the work and donations come from individual people and companies in the surrounding community. That is part of the wonderful thing about this program. It really is a community effort.
