Christmas Bike Program on Schedule for December 7th

Merry Christmas!
Ride for Bikes, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is excited to announce our plans to provide over 600 children in Southeastern New Mexico with Christmas bikes for the 2013 Christmas season.

This year Ride for Bikes selected these charities to receive bikes: Artesia Head Start – 202 bikes, Carlsbad Head Start – 271 bikes, Hagerman Head Start – 20 bikes and the Christmas Family program – 135 bikes. These groups are thrilled to have been chosen to receive bikes. We know together we will make over 600 children very happy.

The budget this year to successfully accomplish our Christmas bike goal is approximately $44,000. We are asking for your help to meet this objective. We have to make this target, as we don’t want to turn away any children. There are many ways in which you can be a part of this great program to help children in our area.

First you can donate to the Ride for Bikes Christmas bike program by sending a check or by donating online via Pay Pal or credit card. Checks should be made out to “Ride for Bikes – GAF” and mailed to Ride for Bikes, 501 East Main Street, Artesia, NM 88210. While you are on our website, we encourage you to read about our program and click on the pictures showing volunteers building bikes and the smiles of those children receiving bikes. Just like last year, the children will “earn” their bikes by making Christmas cards for our troops. We believe by earning their bikes the children learn a valuable lesson in responsibility.

For companies donating $500 or more we will need a digital version of your logo. These logos will be proudly displayed on banners at the bike build and on the trailers delivering the bikes to the charities.

We would also like to invite everyone to join us in assembling the bikes for the children. The bike build will take place on Saturday, December 7th at the Artesia Community Center, starting at 8 AM. We encourage families, companies, churches, or anyone that wants to be part of a community to join together to do something for those less fortunate. Don’t worry if you haven’t put a bike together. We have jobs for everyone. And with over 600 bikes to put together we need all the helping hands we can find.

Speaking of jobs, do you have a covered trailer? We need trailers and drivers to deliver bikes. Please contact us at info@rideforbikes.com to volunteer.

So what can you do to help? That is something we hope you truly think about. We are very happy with all that we do for the children in our community, but we are only able to do it with your help.
